Kateryna Gandzyuk's friends and attorneys of the attacked activists gathered and sent information to the Ukrayinska Pravda about 55 attacks on public activists that had happened since the beginning of 2017. All of them have not been solved, their instigators are not found, and investigations themselves continue to be sluggish or do not go on at all.
In the evening of September 22, the gun banged in ordinary Odesa courtyard near the Department of the National Police in Odesa region. Unknown men shot at the head of Odesa branch of the Power of People Party, Oleh Mykhailyk, who was going home. The bullet went right through the arm and stuck in lungs between his ribs. Mykhailyk lost 1.5 liters of blood, he has experienced clinical death. He is recovering now.
Two days in a raw, activists are holding the rally in Odesa with the demand of effective investigation and resignation of local police officers. Odesa policemen opened the case on attempted murder and created reinforced investigative and operational group. Five suspects in Mykhailyk's attack have been already arrested. The President discussed the attack on Mykhailyk with the Minister of Internal Affairs and the Prosecutor General.
«This is only the beginning. Violence will be tougher», – says Kateryna Gandzyuk, activist and counselor of Kherson City Council, who has severe burns after the terrible attack in her hometown. On July 1, unknown man poured sulfuric acid over Kateryna near her porch. From the beginning the case was qualified as "hooliganism" and under public pressure the Police re-qualified it into "grievous attempted murder". Kateryna has over 35% of skin burns, she is still in intensive care unit in one of hospitals in Kyiv.

«In recent months, there was a wave of targeted attacks on activists across the country. We observe total ignore of them by law enforcement agencies which start to act only under pressure from the public», – according to the open statement, signed by fifty non-governmental organizations and initiatives, as well as dozens of political parties and individual activists.
Human rights activists emphasize that collected information is only the piece of information that has drawn their attention, and the real number of such crimes is much bigger. The majority of attacks are beatings without the use of weapons, which led to grievous or light bodily injuries; In 15 cases, the attackers used firearms, traumatic or cold weapons.
Since 2017, 5 women have been attacked, one of them, human rights defender Iryna Nozdrovska, was killed.
Four attacks out of 55 cases ended up with loss of life of activists.
Attacks on activists and journalists are results of conspiracy of authorities with local elites
Attacks on activists and journalists are not sporadic violence against specific people. "There is a connection between all attacks on public activists that have recently happened. There is a context which goes far beyond regional boundaries", said Kateryna Gandzyuk.
"Local " feudalists" provide full support to Petro Poroshenko in the Presidential elections, and in return receive guarantees of their own integrity and policy of all-permissiveness, which allows them to destroy active citizens, persecute those who criticize authorities in cities", - consider authors of the so-called "The List of Gandzyuk" with the list of unsolved crimes against activists. The list includes attorneys and human rights activists, eco-activists, journalists and anti-corruption fighters who control the work of authorities.

Citizens do not receive comprehensive information about results of investigations and do not have guarantees of their own security. Activists demand the public report of the Minister of Internal Affairs regarding the stage of investigation of each of these cases from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and ask the Verkhovna Rada to create temporary investigative commission for the investigation of these cases.
"As long as military in the East continue to defend the territorial integrity and keep the front, the fight goes on in the back of the country. Every day it becomes more and more dangerous to live for those who have their own principles and beliefs, have courage to call things with their names, protect interests of local units, fight against corruption schemes, and prevent political agreements", – according to the open statement, which was published on September 26 by friends and attorneys of attacked activists, and which was signed by over fifty non-governmental organizations and unions as well as political parties and common individuals.
The state, represented by the law enforcement agencies, has enough resources and opportunities to promptly, thoroughly and objectively investigate crimes and inform citizens about results – but it only simulates hectic activity that helps to avoid punishment to perpetrators and increases violence every day.
Activists demand the President of Ukraine to hold an extraordinary meeting of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine due to the increase of intensity of attacks inside the country.
This can not continue in the country which had the Revolution of Dignity earlier
This can not continue in the country which had the Revolution of Dignity earlier, activists warn the authorities. Ukrainians could suffer for a long time, but they make conclusions resolutely in case of inaction of the authorities.
"Silence kills" the inaction of authorities regarding investigations of attacks on activists has provoked protests across the country. On September 27, representatives of the public sector in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lviv, Zaporizhzhya, Dnipro, Chernihiv, Vinnytsia, Ternopil, Uzhhorod, Kropyvnytskyi, and Severodonetsk will hold the action of solidarity regarding attacked activists.

Who ordered activists?
"Who ordered all these people? Who covers their instigators? Why so many investigations are sabotaged? And why do we silently watch and abide while the most active of us are maimed and killed? Since when this is okay?" - asks Kateryna Gandzyuk in her video message and states that these questions have already become rhetorical.
